Role Summary

The CCPC is seeking to recruit a Policy Analyst to work in the Policy and International Division. This role and the Division’s work is firmly rooted in the CCPC’s statutory function to conduct research and advise policy-makers in relation to consumer protection and competition matters. The Division delivers against the CCPC’s Strategic Goal 3: ‘We will be a leading voice in representing the interests of consumers and promoting competition. This is an opportunity for a high calibre candidate with policy and research experience, to join a growing multi-disciplinary team.

 

As a Policy Analyst, you will report to a Senior Policy Analyst and work closely with all of the Policy and International Division along with other CCPC colleagues.  You will play a key role supporting the delivery of specific areas of the Divisional work plan which covers policy development, interaction with policy makers, market studies and market research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the monitoring of the external environment to identify opportunities for the CCPC to influence policy development and respond to issues of concern.

  • Researching and supporting the development of evidence based CCPC position papers on competition and consumer protection issues.

  • Researching and supporting the development of evidenced based CCPC positions in response to public consultations and Matters for Consideration by Government.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Market Studies.

  • Considering and responding to consumer and business complaints.

  • Supporting engagement with key external stakeholders such as sectoral regulators, Government Departments and public representatives.

  • Undertaking operational duties to support the Division as appropriate.

  • Contribute to the development and achievement of the strategic goals of the organisation, in particular, participating in non-investigative cross-divisional projects as required.

Technical and Professional Requirements

Essential:

  • Third level qualification in economics, law, social science or other relevant discipline

  • Proven ability to work in a busy environment, engage on multiple, concurrent policy projects and meet fixed reporting deadlines

  • Proven ability to research, collate, analyse and present information from a range of sources in a clear, balanced and concise manner

  • Proven ability to successfully engage with internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong team-working skills

  • Track record of being a self-starter with a strong results orientation and ability to meet demanding deadlines
